I'm one of those people, that can get in a bad mood really quickly, and that usually ruins my plans for the day. I've been struggling with being annoying my entire life hahaha, and so my late new years' resolution was: less whining! I love being alone, but dealing with some health issues recently, I've just neglected my resolutions and my alone time, and basically just felt sorry for myself. Being at home all the time has forced me to stop feeling bad, and cheer up, so I thought I would share some things that always make me feel better :)
When I'm in a bad mood I usually lose my appetite: I eat nothing the entire day and then stuff my face with every possible candy in the world. I've come to realize, that if I prepare a good meal for myself, I instantly feel better. Doesn't matter if it's healthy or not, just taking my time to do something for myself helps. I usually prepare a smoothie, a cereal bowl or pancakes.
2. WATCH MOVIES/SERIES
I'm the person that watches series all the time. Sometimes I take the day off and watch series the entire day because from time to time, you just need a day when you're doing absolutely nothing. I've been doing this since I can remember, and it always always helps.
Similar to the feeling when you lay in your fresh bed sheets after a shower, taking care of your body can make you feel better.
Skin care is super important. My skin type is mixed to oily and very sensitive, so taking care of my skin is an everyday thing for me. But every now and then I give my skin even more attention with all sorts of masks. I also love DIY masks, and I am constantly browsing trough Pinterest for ideas.
If I say I am obsessed with taking care of my face, there are no words to describe how much effort I put into the skin on the rest of my body.
I love peelings, shower gels, DIY scrubs and body milks so much. I exfoliate under the shower every three days anyhow, but when I'm feeling down I put on my favorite playlist and use everything: shower gel, scrub and body milk. Because who doesn't feel good when laying in bed smelling like a coconut?
Obviously, I'm that person that uses too many products for everything. So same goes with my hair. I like to mix up different shampoos and conditioners, but my ride or die products are the L'oreal hair mask, Schwarzkopf hair cream, and coconut oil. I use coconut oil on my entire hair once every two weeks as a treatment, and I usually leave it in for a few hours. It makes your hair shiny and also helps with dandruff or sensitive scalp. I like to use coconut oil on my face and body too from time to time (look up instructions on Pinterest!).
For me, sometimes even the smallest thing, like a new nail color, can help. I always go for either red or nude.
This is the one thing I do every single time I feel sad. I put on my favorite music and turn the volume up, and just dance around in my room. It sounds funny and looks even funnier, but it makes me so happy. I sometimes even do that in the morning while getting ready. If you're not the dancing type, you can just put some calming music on and go for a walk, that always helps me too.
4. GET CREATIVE
When feeling down, or on rainy days I love doing all sorts of creative stuff. Even though that usually means organizing my room. I love browsing trough Pinterest, to find inspiration for decorating, DIY projects and so on. If you aren't the most creative type, get a friend to help you (that's what I did, haha). Besides doing something productive you'll also have fun.
Even though I like being alone when feeling sad, a friend always helps. You don't need to talk about what's bothering you, you can just have a sleepover, or do something you like together.
I hope this has helped you out, and remember that you need to have bad days, to really appreciate the good ones!!
